to the Participants of the Round Table on Human Security, Presented by Mr. Rashid Meredov, Minister of Foreign Affairs
Dear members of the Commission on Human Security
Dear participants of the Round Table!
With all my heart I would like to welcome you in the capital of neutral Turkmenistan and wish you fruitful and successful work.
Turkmenistan highly appreciates the activities of the Commission on Human Security and expresses comprehensive support to its noble goals for consolidation of the world community's efforts to establish a comprehensive approach for addressing human problems. Successful activities and high authority of the Commission depend in many cases on the participation of famous politicians and statemen, who are well-known all over the world. Owing to their active approach and work, the process of policy development for the addressing of the global humanitarian challenge is being implemented.
In accordance with the Constitution of Turkmenistan a human being is identified as a highest value of the society and care over the human beings is a part of the state policy. Development and implementation of large-scale Programs on the development of the Turkmen society are mainly aimed at providing well-being and health of the people as well as peaceful life and free labor to the citizens of the country. Specific attention is paid to the social support to the population. During the years of independence social security of the people and creation enabling conditions for full moral and physical development of the human being became a foundation for the stability and consent in Turkmen society, confidence in future and strengthening their trust in the policy of reforming implemented.
Turkmenistan, which neutral status was acknowledged by the unanimous approval of the UN General Assembly Speical Resoluion, actively and closely co-operates with the United Nations on wide range of issues. Co-operation with the United Nations and its Agencies plays a priority role in decision making of actual problems of the international life, including regional issues. This is important in particular for the development of the ways to address humanitarian problems, including the issue of human security.
Today the importance of the humanitarian issues of modern times requires the development of the international policy criteria through the prism of the human demension. In this context Turkmenistan is ready to fully support the Commission on Human Security, the effective activities of which are mainly identified by the interested participation of the UN State-Members.
We consider the fact that the capital of our state has been choosen as a place to hold this Round Table as one more sign of the existing confidence and respect on behalf of the UN to the status of neutrality of Turkmenistan and its peace-loving foreign policy.
I am sure that fruitful work of this Round Table will bring a new impulse to the process of awareness and development of effective ways to address challenges that the United Nations faces in the sphere of the human security and related humanitarian problems.
I hope that being in the capital of Turkmenistan you will have a chance to see real achievements of our country's independence.
I with great success and all the best to the Commission on Human Security in the implementation of the high and noble purposes.
